With so many things to do at Spare Time Texas, we know it can be a challenge to plan your next outing appropriately. We're here to help with some of our more frequently asked questions. If one of your questions isn't answered below, feel free to use our Contact Form!

General Info

Spare Time Texas locations are open 365 days a year. We do observe special hours for certain holidays, but we’re open and ready to welcome guests every day of the year! Any special holiday hours or private event closures will be posted to our website and/or across our Social Media platforms.

Our standard hours of operation are:
Monday-Thursday: 11:00am-Midnight
Friday: 11:00am-1:00am
Saturday: 10:00am-1:00am
Sunday: 10:00am-Midnight

Our Shaker's Backyard outdoor expansion in Temple is open Monday-Friday from 5:00pm-Close and Saturday-Sunday from Open-Close. In the case of inclement weather, Shaker's Backyard will be closed to maintain safety precautions and will reopen when safely possible.

Spare Time offers over 20 lanes of bowling, a 2-story laser tag arena, a large assortment of arcade games, a full-service restaurant + bar, plus an event space for parties. We also have seasonal bowling clubs + leagues and offer free bowling lessons periodically throughout the year. Our Temple location recently added an outdoor expansion, including Go-Karts, 8 Batting Cages, a multi-level SkyTrail Ropes Course with a smaller single-level SkyTykes Ropes Course, and 2 Sand Volleyball courts. Our Pflugerville location recently upgraded the VIP Pin House to include UNREAL Bowling, featuring digital video lane projection and AR-enabled ball tracking for a truly unique bowling experience, as well as Hatchet Alley Axe Throwing in its 2nd story loft, with 6 lanes of axe throwing excitement.

We operate a full kitchen, serving an American Casual menu. With flatbreads, hand-made burgers, and chef-concocted specialties, there's something for everyone to enjoy! Gluten-free options are available on request.

Shakers' full-service bar serves all your favorite refreshments as well as a hefty selection of local brews, wines, and distilled spirits. We also serve a variety of buffet options for private events and take-out orders are welcome!

Event Catering is provided through our very own Shakers Catering, offering our same great food, delivered right to you.

We offer Daily Specials all week long and often hold special events with bundled packages for Bowling, Laser Tag, and Arcade. These specials are walk-in only, therefore they cannot be combined with any reservations. Any other available discounts, offers, or coupons are not able to be used in combination with reservations unless specifically noted.

The best perks, however, are reserved for our meCLUB members. By joining meCLUB, you will get exclusive offers, advanced notice of special events, and the best perks that we have to offer! Members of our Bowling Clubs or Leagues are also eligible for discounts on select services.

Madness is an all-you-can-play special including Bowling + Shoes, Laser Tag, and Unlimited Video Game Play*. Bowling lanes and laser tag missions are available on a first-come-first-served basis and will move to a rotating wait list if we reach capacity. Laser Tag is open to any participants over 44” tall. Each guest will receive a time-play BLITZ card that allows unlimited video game play for the entire Madness session (typically 11AM-5PM). All of this can be enjoyed for one low price per guest! Madness specials are offered throughout the year, usually around various holidays, and every Friday morning as part of our Daily Specials.

*Redemption points, merchandise, and VR games not included. Must be 44" tall to play Laser Tag. Walk-ins only.

Patron Guidelines

For the enjoyment and safety of all Spare Time guests, we require that the following guidelines must be maintained:

  • All children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Smoking is allowed only in the designated outdoor area.

  • No inappropriate or offensive language.

  • No gang activity, including wearing of apparel intended to indicate gang membership or to communicate gang behavior. This includes the use of gang symbols or slogans.

  • No carrying or displaying weapons of any kind except those carried by certified law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties.

  • No animals are allowed on Spare Time property with the exception of animals in the company of persons trained to assist physically challenged patrons.

  • No violence, threats of violence, fighting, physical abuse or physically or verbally threatening any person, or hostility of any kind.

  • No being intoxicated and/or possessing or being under the influence of illegal drugs.

  • No damaging or destruction of any Spare Time property.

  • TEMPLE ONLY: Starting at 8:00pm each evening, all guests under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in order to enter our Spare Time location in Temple. Any guests under the age of 18 without a parent or legal guardian will be asked to leave the center at that time.

Dress Code

  • Appropriate attire, including shirts and shoes, must be worn.

  • Wearing apparel which has obscene language, obscene gestures, or racial/religious/ethnic slurs that are likely to create a disturbance is prohibited.

  • Wearing clothing that deliberately obscures the face: such as hooded tops, will not be allowed.

  • No visible undergarments.

  • No brimless head wear.

  • Sagging pants prohibited.

  • Women: appropriate length shorts and skirts.

Failure to follow these guidelines will result in removal from premises.

Anyone who registers their BLITZ card with us and spends at least $400 on that card in the Game Room within one year will be upgraded to VIP status. Once a VIP, your card automatically gets you a 15% discount on all games in the Game Room! Visit our Winner's Corner area to register your BLITZ card at either of our centers.

We regularly engage in community events, such as festivals and chamber of commerce meetings. As a regular destination for school field trips and other community organizations, we do our best to regularly give back. Spare Time offers service donations for fundraisers and other community events. We also offer free bowling equipment and curriculums for school physical education programs. Internally, we mentor our team members and provide access to free educational resources to help them grow in their careers and gain solid professional foundations.


Spare Time Texas offers a convenient online system for reserving both our Classic and Pin House lanes, allowing guests to book up to 4 hours in advance. We can accommodate up to 6 bowers per lane. For groups larger than 12 guests, we recommend contacting our Event Sales office for group rates in advance of your visit. When making a lane reservation, payment must be made in full in order to confirm the reservation.

All of our lanes are available for reservation or walk-in guests. However, there are times when all lanes may have already been reserved previously or have been reserved for a private event. In these instances, guests are able to join a waitlist to be notified when a lane becomes available.

When reserving Bowling lanes, a convenience fee of $20 per lane is added to the reservation. This fee covers both blocking off any lanes reserved (ensuring that they are ready and available at the time of your reservation) as well as bowling shoes for up to 6 bowlers (which are normally $4 per pair).

Guests are able to purchase a single game of bowling Monday-Thursday from Open-Close and on Fridays before 5:00pm. A single game of bowling costs $4.50 before 5:00pm and $5.50 after 5:00pm. This is always subject to lane availability, dependent on the time and date.

On Fridays from 5:00pm-Close and Open-Close on Saturday-Sunday, bowling is only available in hourly increments.

Yes, bumpers are available on all lanes for younger or beginner bowlers. Bumpers can be selected for any bowler by using the setup/scoring tablet at each lane.

The Pin House is our private 8-lane bowling lounge, featuring luxury seating, 4 large media screens, and direct access to Shaker's Bar. It also includes lane-side food and drink service that you'll find on our Classic lanes. It's perfect for celebrations of all kinds, but it's also open to the public when not reserved. However, the Pin House is 21+ after 9:00pm.

If you are interested in booking our Pin House, lane reservations are available within 7 days, up to 4 hours in advance (2 lanes, 2-hour minimum) online or through the Event Sales office.

For Private Parties and Events (recommended for groups of 40+ guests), please contact your local center and speak to a member of our Event Sales team directly.

We do allow kids to bowl in the Pin House before 9:00pm. After 9:00pm, the Pin House transitions to 21+ only, so any minors or adults under the age of 21 will not be able to stay. However, they are more than welcome to continue bowling on classic lanes (if available) or participate in other activities in the center.

Absolutely! Bowling shoes are available in our centers for $4 per guest. We also have socks available to purchase for $2 per pair, for any guests who may need them as well. Bowling shoes are available in children's, women's, and men's sizes.

Any guest standing anywhere near the lane, including the approach, is required to wear bowling shoes. Any guests remaining in the seating area or behind are not required to wear bowling shoes, but they will not be allowed onto the lanes for safety precautions.

We offer 3 seasons per year (Winter, Summer, Fall) for Bowling Clubs + Leagues. All Leagues and their members are USBC certified, whereas our club programs are not. Spare Time also offers Free Bowling Lessons, geared towards beginning bowlers, preceding every new season. There are a variety of discounts available to all club and league members as an added bonus!

Yes, bowling ramps are available for disabled individuals upon request.

Please note that for safety reasons, we do not make ramps available for small children and we recommend that younger guests should bowl only when physically able. Our team is always here to help with friendly recommendations on selecting appropriate bowling ball sizes, proper bowling techniques, etc.

Parties + Events

Unfortunately, we do not allow outside food or drinks at our center. However, we do have an amazing restaurant and bar called Shakers where you can order food for your event.

Yes, we do allow cakes or cupcakes to be brought in for your birthday party. However, we do not allow ice cream cakes, unfortunately.

Yes, you are more than welcome to bring in decorations for your party. However, we do not allow certain items like glitter or confetti, due to the large and complicated messes that they cause. We also do not allow any items to be displayed or hung on our walls. Banners and signs can be displayed on tables and chairs, though, if desired.

Spare Time Texas is the ultimate place to throw a party! For large groups, having the whole center at your disposal can really make for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With over 20 lanes of bowling, a 2-story laser tag arena, a giant arcade, a full bar and restaurant, and large event spaces complete with A/V equipment and a team of dedicated hosts to serve you, there's little that can compare to a Whole-Center Buyout at Spare Time. Birthday Parties and Sports Team Celebrations require a $50 non-refundable deposit, with the remaining amount (including any sales tax and service charges) due on the day of the event.

For all other events, a 25% non-refundable deposit is required to book, with the remaining amount (including any sales tax and service charges) due on the day of the event.

Each of our events has specific days and times that are available, based on the type of event, which are listed at the top of each specific event page. For the majority of events, we require 72 hours advance notice. However, our events team is always available to assist and see what we can do to meet your event needs!

Special Events

Yes! We want to make each visit to Spare Time as special as possible, so we always have special events planned for both of our centers.

Both of our locations host a monthly Trivia Night based around popular movies and TV shows like Disney, Marvel, The Office, Star Wars, and more!

We also host special reservation-only Drink Pairing Dinners where our chefs create a unique multi-course fine dining experience, while our bartenders select the perfect complementary drink pairing for each course.

Our Temple location also hosts a weekly Karaoke Night every Friday from 9PM-Midnight, while our Outdoor Pavilion at Shaker's Backyard welcomes bands and artists throughout the year for our guests to enjoy some great Live Music for free.

Not at all. Karaoke is available for all guests every Friday from 9:00pm-Midnight at our Temple location. We do not currently have Karaoke at our Pflugerville location.

Trivia nights are usually held once per month, with a different theme for each month. You can compete solo or as part of a team (up to 6 people, per table). Tables are limited for each trivia night and must be reserved in order to guarantee a spot. The cost to reserve a table is $20, but that fee is given back to the guest on a Blitz Card once they arrive and check in for trivia. Each month's Trivia theme, as well as reservation links, will be posted on the website at least 3-4 weeks before the event date. To see our upcoming trivia theme, click here.

Trivia at Spare Time is all-digital, which means that each team will need to remember to bring a mobile device or tablet in order to participate! Trivia questions will be displayed on the device, as well as read aloud by our trivia hosts. One person from each team will then be responsible for submitting all answers.

Pairing Dinners are held occasionally throughout the year, when possible. Our Pairing Dinners consist of a multi-course meal, themed and crafted by one of our chefs, with complementary drink pairings provided with each course. Pairing Dinners are announced at least one month in advance, with the theme and menu provided ahead of time. Tickets will be made available at that time as well.
