OUR STORY SO FAR...
MARY • TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
Allow us to introduce Mary Denson, a line cook who joined our team in February of 2016. Although relatively inexperienced when she started her career, Mary has grown to be one of our most dependable assets in the kitchen. Now a team lead, Chef Kent relies on Mary to hold the line together and manage various responsibililties throughout the kitchen, chief among them being quality control and consistency.
Mary's passion is cooking and feeds into one of her main goals of traveling the world and experiencing as many different cultures as possible through their cuisine. For now though, she passes the time with her dog and hanging out by the lake. Professionally, Mary often works with the Chef on techniques and participates in course work through BPAA to learn more about food & beverage management.
Despite being the resident comedian in the kitchen, Mary has earned the respect of her fellow workers through her consistently positive attitude and continues to strive towards achieving all she can in the culinary world. She firmly believes that "hard work will take you far in life" and shares that advice with her fellow teammates. We're glad to have Mary on the team and enjoy knowing that she feels the same way!

MADYSON • TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
Madyson Yeager joined our team at Spare Time - Temple in December of 2015 as a Guest Service Representative. Being the quick learner that she is, Madyson was quickly introduced to other departments and made a name for herself working Expo in the kitchen. After beginning Friday Night Karaoke, she quickly volunteered to DJ for the weekly event.
Madyson enjoys the challenges of her work and enjoys whenever she can contribute to a guest having having a great time. Things get most exciting when she is able to come together with her teammates to overcome a situation. In her off-time, Madyson loves to go on adventures with her friends and is working towards becoming a marine biologist or zoologist.
Apart from meeting many of her friends at Spare Time, Madyson also met and fell in love with her husband TJ while working for us. Due to TJ's service in the military, we said fairwell to Madyson on May 6th when they were asked to relocate. As part of our team, she is sorely missed and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors!

COMIC-CON FOR A CAUSE:
The Teen Advisory Board of McLane Children’s was given a unique opportunity August 5th & 6th when they were offered a complementary booth by the generous organizer of the Bell County Comic-Con, Johnny Huang. The Teenagers also received support from local General Manager, Daniel Mueller of Spare Time bowling who donated a large game and cards containing spare time credit for the event.
The teens wasted no time talking to each person about their love for McLane Children’s Medical Center and about joining their fundraising team. The teens met the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kevin Eastman among other celebrities. The Teen Advisory Board raised a total of $545.50 through donations and a charity auction (organized by Johnny Huang and his team with items donated from many local artists and celebrities).
We are so thankful for the enormous amount of community support. Thank you to everyone who talked to our teenagers, donated to them, or contributed in anyway to this fantastic event.
The Teen Advisory Board team is now 83 members strong… and counting…

RONNIE • TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT:
Ronnie Largent joined the Spare Time Texas team in late March of 2013, right before our first location in Temple opened. Since then he has served in the positions of Bowling Counter, Supervisor, Bookkeeper, and now Attractions Manager. With all that combined experience and steadfast dedication, Ronnie has become an invaluable member of our team.
To Ronnie, nothing matters more when he's on duty than guest experience. His daily mission is to make every guest feel right at home. One of Ronnie's few concerns left is that his bartending skills aren't quite up to par enough to jump behind the bar and help out when it's busy. It's one of his main goals he's working on.
Ronnie is also an avid bowler and has been competing in Temple's Tuesday Co-Ed Club for 4 seasons now. He also enjoys fishing, seeing movies, and attending auto shows in Austin and Fort Worth. To help others enjoy the successes he has achieved, Ronnie gives the advice: Apply yourself. You CAN do better. NEVER think negatively. Learn from your mistakes! If you're a new guest or a regular, stop by and shake Ronnie's hand. It would make his day to be able to make your day!

BOWLER'S ED • COMMUNITY PROGRAM:
How many schools have you been to that have their own bowling alley? The answer is probably none. So how can kids learn to bowl without spending money at a local alley or having school's invest in building specialized equipment? That's the question that IBC's Bowler's Ed answers for schools across the U.S. By partnering with local bowling centers, Bowler's Ed has been able to bring students and bowling together in a way that had not been possible previously.
The IBC provides educators with a full Bowling cirriculum and the option to purchase portable bowling equipment that can be set up easily in any gymnasium. That's where Spare Time comes in. We have purchased several sets of the portable bowling equipment and are making it available to schools, free of charge. The end result is that students receive a very comprehensive training course on bowling with all materials provided to the school at no cost!
Pflugerville Middle School was the first in our community to take our portable lanes for a spin. P.E. Teacher, Cierra Martin, had this to say about the Bowler's Ed program:
"My students LOVED the bowling. I enjoyed all the cross-curriculum, as that is very important to our school. The biggest thing for us was that bowling is all-inclusive for our students. Our essential academic students (students with some sort of disability) were able to bowl and enjoyed every minute. Thank you so much for allowing our school this opportunity."

Angel is always willing to help out at any time in any department. She now uses that knowledge and experience to curate unforgettable party experiences, and in doing so, has become a vital and thoroughly dependable part of our sales team. Angel receives great feedback from so many guests and she still manages to help out in other departments when she is called upon.
There's a lot more behind Angel's shining smile and sparkling personality. Her favorite Spare Time menu item is Mike's Club and she loves to get a few rounds of laser tag in when she's off the clock.
